Built by a travel-sports family
Not designed in a vacuum.
Dave Small has spent 20-plus years in enterprise IT — the kind of work where "basically working" isn't good enough. At home, he and his wife Kelly had four kids — Madison, Chloe, Jack, and Ethan — all playing in the same travel volleyball program, and somehow keeping track of four schedules, four rosters, and four payment threads was harder than anything at the office.
Kelly played volleyball through college and spent decades as an educator communicating with thousands of students and families — she'd seen the same breakdown from the other side of the classroom. Both of them were travel athletes themselves growing up, and now, watching their own four compete, they kept landing on the same conclusion every season: this shouldn't be this hard. After a few years of thinking about it, Dave started building TravelSportsHQ two years ago — bringing real systems discipline to the unglamorous problem of actually running a club season.
